About Jamaica: Jamaica has an average yearly temperature of 82 degrees and is also blessed with some beautiful beach around the Island. Once you leave the Sangsters International Airport in Montego Bay, and either head towards Ocho Rios or towards Negril, you are looking at a 90 minute drive. Negril is famous for its seven mile beach and spectacular sunsets and relaxed and laid back atmosphere. Negril was a sleepy little fishing village before tourist discovered its beauty. The area by Couples Swept Away Resort in Negril as its real quiet and beautiful sunsets, and also many great accommodations from apartments, guest houses, and of course, the all inclusive resorts like Sandals, Riu, Couples Swept Away, Grand Lido and many more.Once you go past downtown Negril, you are now in the West End of Negril where famous Ricks Café is located. Definitely a must see and great for a few drinks and to see a beautiful sunset guaranteed. Lots of great hotels and guest houses in this area also. Negril is a fun place to visit with a lot of great local people, and some excellent Jamaican food.
Ocho Rios is also quite spectacular for Dunns River Falls. This is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, plunging down into the beautiful caribbean sea from a height of 180 meters. From the beach, you can walk up to the highest point through waterfalls and lush tropical vegetation. This is one of the most photographed waterfalls, appearing in many swimsuit advertisements and also in many films. The beach at Dunns River is quite lovely and always full of locals and tourist. The waters of Dunns River are nice and cool and gives you a break from the hot Jamaica sun. It is a refreshing and spiritual experience. Dolphin Cove is also another fun place where you may swim with the dolphins. It is about 1 minute from Dunns River Falls.
You may walk around the streets of Ocho Rios and bargain with the local vendors who sell many different items of Jamaican art. There are many resturaunts to choose from for a .nice dinner.
Ocho Rios also has all of the major all inclusive resorts like Sandals, Couples Negril, RIU, Jamaica Grande, and a few more, where you just relax and enjoy the great food, drink and beaches that these fine resorts offer.
If you stay in Montego Bay, you are garanteed to have a lot of fun. Montego Bay stretches 15 miles along the northwestern coast and is surrounded by beautiful warm turquoise waters. It is also the second largest city. Kingston is the largest city in Jamaica. The Hip Strip is where all the resturaunts and shops are located.Montego Bay also offers superb accomodations from luxurious to simple.
There are resorts like Sandals, RIU, The Ritz Carlton at Rose Hall, Round Hill Resort and Villas, and The Tryall Club. Smaller hotels like The Wexford, El Greco, Doctors Cave Beach Hotel ,The Gloustershire Hotel, Rondel Village, and Tobys resort are always available.
The beaches are quite lovely at Doctors Cave Beach, and there are a few more available for a nice swim. The sun is very strong in Jamaica, and be sure to put on lotion so you do not get a bad burn. Montego Bay offers a range of activities for all and is sure to be enjoyed by all who visit.
Transportation on the Island is plentiful with Taxis and shuttle services to all of the resorts from the airport with Juta Tours, Tropical Tours, and Tourwise. You may also just rent a car and drive around the Island and truly get a feel of Jamaica and its people.
The rainy season is generally in September and October, so plan your trip accordingly. The early summer months are usually agood time to visit and of course from January to April where it is the dry season.
